PROTOCOL FOR ONLINE COMMUNICATION

When participating in online discussions, it is important to follow some simple do’s and don’ts of etiquette. A useful acronym to remember is WRITE - Warm, Responsive, Inquisitive, Tentative andEmpathetic. Above all, be courteous to your fellow peers and respect the diversity of opinions.

Here are a few rules of thumb to add value to your posts:

  • respond to posts initiated by the official moderators leading the discussion (within the already established thread- click on "reply")
  • try to participate frequently
  • try to extend the conversation by analyzing and building on previous posts rather than commenting in isolation (within the already established thread- click on "reply")
  • if a new topic emerges - try to initiate discussion by posting a new discussion topic in the forum
  • try to make posts that are relevant and factually correct, perhaps using references to literature or personal experience to support your points
  • try to make clear and concise comments formatted in a style that is easy to read

Thank you all for your participation in the webinar on crowdfunding. We had a really interesting session on crowdfunding and the different ways in which developing countries can incorporate it into their financial mix. Some of the prominent questions that were raised during the webinar are listed below for discussion.

  1. How can developing countries circumvent weak mechanisms for signaling quality and trust that are necessary for crowdfunding projects?
  2. How can countries regulate crowdfunding and equity channels, particularly in developing countries?
  3. Where do online platforms fit in markets with lower demand for finance?
  4. What types of technologies work in contexts with low online and digital technology penetration and use?
