Professor Scott Stern provides an overview of the use of innovation prizes and competitions as a policy lever to spurring innovation and addressing specific social and economic challenges. He places particular emphasis on understanding when and how to use innovation prizes, and also how to adapt our emerging understanding of prizes for emerging economies. This presentation discusses other demand-side incentives such as procurement. Professor Stern provides solutions to when and how to use procurement in order to promote innovation.
